About Us

> Interactive Systems & Technologies, LLC   was founded in March, 1994 in Oxford, CT. Later that year, IST moved to larger facilities in Canton, GA, just north of the Metro Atlanta area. After 7 years of dramatic growth, IST then moved to its current facility in Jasper, GA, about 20 miles north of their previous location in Canton, in the North Georgia mountains.

The Early Years...

But that's not the whole story of IST. The story actually began in Naugatuck, CT in 1975, when company founder and president Scott Korowotny purchased his first Mustang, a 1969 Candy Apple Red fastback. That purchase started a lifelong love affair with Fords. In the years immediately after 1975, he began restoring and selling vintage Mustangs and Cougars, and always owned one for himself, a 1969 Mustang GT convertible. But sadly, the supply of restorable cars in the Northeast began to run out in the mid 1980's. Gas prices shot up, economy cars were in, performance was out, the internet was still years away, and the future looked bleak. So Scott went back to college and earned both a Computer and Electrical Engineering degree in the early 1980's. But then, Ford re-introduced the 302 cid 2 BBL Mustang GT in 1982, and then the 302 cid 4 BBL Mustang GT in 1984. Although they were vastly under-powered, the future of performance started to look a little brighter.

Ford Breaks from the Past...

1986 was a revolutionary year. It was the year that Ford and carburetors parted ways. While some seventies and eighties cars had various primitive forms of mechanical or electronic fuel injection, 1986 marked the first year that Ford introduced the sequential multi-port speed-density fuel injection systems on the 302 V8's. Now the only "carbureted" cars that Ford sold (through 1991) were the 351 Variable Venturi LTD Crown Victoria Police Package cars. Ford then rolled out sequential multi-port mass-air systems in California in 1988, making it available nationwide in 1989. Scott immediately recognized the potential this had for performance tuning. He began experimenting and modifying these systems in earnest. But soon, a big problem became apparent. While these new systems worked well in stock form from the factory, adding performance parts or modifications became a hunting/surging nightmare. In order to modify and tune these newer engines, it required a vast amount of knowledge to alter the electronics and computer code. Scott began to think there had to be a better way, a way that was simple to do and understand, so everyone would be able tune their car as easily as they had in the past, by changing jets and turning adjusting screws. Early testing reveled that the largest problems these new systems faced was the ability to adjust the air/fuel ratio to compensate for engine performance modifications. There really was no way to adjust the air/fuel ratio, as it was set from the factory by the calibration of the mass-air sensor and the computer code. Scott thought - "Hummm, if there were only some way to adjust the air, that would alter the fuel as well..."

A New Beginning...

In 1992, Scott designed and built what would later become IST's first product, The Air Adjuster!! This revolutionary device plugged in-between the mass-air sensor and the harness and allows you to adjust the air/fuel ratio with a simple turn of an adjustment screw. Realizing the potential for this product, Scott formally launched IST in March of 1994 and the rest, as they say, is history. The Air Adjuster!! was and still is to this day the company's best selling product.  In late 1994 the company moved south to be closer to the NASCAR-inspired performance centers of the Southeastern US.  Of course, more products have been steadily added over the years, most years ahead of the competition when released. And while other companies have offered the same old thing as everyone else, year after year, IST is different. IST offers unique products and solutions that the competition hasn't even thought of yet. IST also offers the HIGHEST QUALITY PRODUCTS AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. When working on his own cars over the years, Scott was frequently disappointed in the quality of parts he bought. They simply didn't come close to OEM quality. So he made a promise to himself that the products he sold would be the highest quality, meeting or EXCEEDING OEM quality, NO EXCUSES. Like his dad always told him, it was worth doing it RIGHT the first time, because you may not have a second chance to make it right.

Looking Forward...

IST continues to expand its product line. And unlike many other companies, we listen to our customers. Many of our newer products have been designed with customer input. Existing product lines are constantly being expanded and improved, and several new product lines will include restoration parts and resto-mod integration parts. Quality still remains our top priority. But some things never change - even though Scott sold the 69 Mustang GT convertible many years ago to pay for college, he now owns a totally rust-free California 1970 Mustang convertible  (76B body, M code engine), in Candy Apple Red, of course!
